Born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1965, Cochrane lives in Vancouver where he teaches literature and creative writing at Kwantlen University College. Having written reviews for the Vancouver Sun, he is the author of Boy Am I (Wolsak & Wynn, 1996), his first book of poetry, and Change Room, (Talonbooks, 2000). Change Room was shortlisted for the inaugural ReLit Award for poetry. 'Outage', from Change Room, was a prize-winner in the 1999 Petra Kenney Poetry Competition. Cochrane's writing has appeared in anthologies such as Thru the Smoky End Boards: Canadian Poetry about Sports & Games and Breathing Fire: Canada's New Poets. His work has been aired on the CBC's Definitely Not the Opera and he competed in CBC Vancouver's 2002 Poetry Face-Off.
