Lesley B. Cormack became Dean of Arts and Social Sciences at Simon Fraser University on September 1, 2007. Prior to that, she was Chair of the Department of History and Classics at the University of Alberta. She is an historian of science, specializing in the history of geography and mathematics in early modern England. Recent publications include: Charting an Empire: Geography at the English Universities 1580-1620 (Chicago, 1997) and A History of Science in Society: From Philosophy to Utility with Andrew Ede (Broadview Press, 2004). She is a member of the Making Publics SSHRC-MCRI project, and a co-investigator with the SSHRC-funded Strategic Knowledge Cluster, "Situating Science: Clustering the Humanist and social studies of Science in Canada";.
