Born in North Vancouver, Brenda Costanzo received her Masters in Biology from UVic in 1984. She has been Assistant Curator of the Herbarium at the University of Victoria, Department of Biology for more than 12 years. As part of UVic's Restoration of Natural Systems program, she lectured on 'Native Plant Propagation for Restoration' in 2002. She has presented numerous courses, workshops and lectures in the past 15 years on native plant gardening and propagation, botanical identification and designing native plant gardens. She was the Vancouver Island Director of the Native Plant Society of BC. She is a biologist with the provincial government.
