An SFU criminology graduate, she pieced together B.C.'s one-and-a-half century history of correctional policies in Conflict, Care and Control: The History of the B.C. Corrections Branch, 1848-1988, co-authored with John Ekstedt, who served as head of corrections in B.C. from 1975-1978. It covers Hudson's Bay barracks, the Gazoonie Gang honour system, forestry camps, leather paddles and penitentiaries.
