A former travel agent in Kelowna, Draper and her family spent a year in Belize in order for her to write her travel guide Belize It! (Lazorko Publishing, 1991). After three months in Belize they ran out of money and went to work running an inn. "Running the Inn and dealing with day-to-day challenges--like scorpions, snakes and flying termites--was like a 24-hour-a-day Outward Bound program," she said. Draper returned with her husband and teenage daughter to B.C. to work as a travel coordinator in Nelson and Kaslo. She has since moved to Mexico.
