Flin Flon-raised Harvey Evans grew up idolizing bush pilots and became a commercial pilot at age eighteen. For ten years he flew bush planes before switching to helicopters in 1961. When he retired in 1994, he had amassed 16,000 hours on rotary wing craft, mainly in British Columbia, specializing in power line construction. He died in 2007. His memoir is From Fox Moths to Jet Rangers: A Bush Pilot's Life (Harbour 2009).
