Born in 1847, Fawcett came to Victoria from San Francisco with his parents in 1859. He had an upholstery business and became a founder of the Pioneers Society. He worked with the Canadian Customs Office from 1882 to 1910 and wrote Some Reminiscences of Old Victoria (Toronto: William Briggs, 1912). He died in 1923.
