Poet and critic, Ryan Fitzpatrick lives in Vancouver, where he is currently working toward his doctorate in contemporary poetics at Simon Fraser University. Fitzpatrick's chapbook, 21st Century Monsters (Red Nettle Press, 2012) was shortlisted for the bpNichol Chapbook Award.

In Fortified Castles (Talon $16.95) his latest collection of poetry, Fitzpatrick asks "what might cause us to retreat into the comforting walls of self" when confronted with a montage of environmental and economic crisis.
