John J. Jackson, born in 1935, was Director of the School of Physical Education at UVic in 1982 when his biography of William A.R. Orban appeared. Titled Mr. 5BX: Canadian Fitness Pioneer (Sono Nis, 1982) it's the story of 'the man who put Canada on the world fitness map' by originally developing the 5BX workouts for RCAF crew members. The first editions of 5BX Plan for Physical Fitness didn't give Orban credit for authorship. Orban, born in Regina in 1922, didn't receive any royalties for sales of purportedly 15 million copies, according to Jackson, who became UVic's Associate Vice-President of Research and author of 11 other books.
