At age 98 Will D. Jenkins wrote and illustrated Chilcotin Diary: Forty Years of Adventure (Hancock, 1997). Born in 1899, he described the 40 years he spent with his wife in the Cariboo-Chilcotin, partly at a cabin on Little Eagle Lake in the Chilcotin. Much of the text is drawn from a manuscript he wrote in 1964 when they were snowbound for two months with temperatures as low as minus 68 Fahrenheit. Jenkins worked for the Vancouver Sun, Bellingham Herald and KVOS radio. He was living in Rockport, Washington when his second book was published. It was preceded by Last Frontier in the North Cascades.
