Solomon Marsden was a chieftain and clan leader at Gitanyow (Kitwancool),
deeply committed to cultural maintenance and revitalization. He served as
Gitksan language editor of the Learning Gitksan (Western dialect) series of
school books produced in the late 1970s in conjunction with Jay Powell and Vicki Jensen who spent their summers living in Kispiox and/or Kitwancool over a five-year period. They produced Learning Gitksan, Books 2, 3 and 4 (1980).
