BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: Born in Ottawa Ontario in 1947, Marshall Veal completed a B.A. in Sociology at Carleton University in 1969, and thereafter relocated to Vancouver B.C. He entered the field of youth counselling, and has worked with children, youth, and their families at agencies in B.C. and Ontario. He attended graduate school in Toronto, and received an M.A. in Counselling Psychology in 1992. Since then, he has worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in both Ontario and, for the last ten years, in B.C., at the B.C. Cancer Agency.

Marshall Veal has cultivated a life-long interest in Western Canada, where his great-grandparents settled in 1886. He has also cultivated interests in literature and music, and has previously recorded three music CD's of original songs and music, published by Saudara Music. Much of his poetry and music has had as its focus the natural and cultural beauty and diversity of Western Canada.

Marshall has performed music and poetry at various festivals and gatherings in Canada, USA and Europe. He also performs for children, and his music CD particularly for young children, entitled Puppy Dog Heart, has been accepted for use in Child Life Programs in hospitals and clinics in Canada, and for use in public libraries.

His first book of poems, entitled Who Has Seen The West: poems, songs and reflections, was published in 2006 by Saudara Music.
