A poet on Thetis Island, Michelle Merlindt has recorded several poems on disk format. "The Figurine" (23:31 minutes) is the story of a great love affair that culminated in the creation of the Rolls-Royce hood ornament. "The Pearl of Dubai" is a trio of rhyming story poems inspired by the Middle East. The first poem harkens back to a time when pearl diving, not oil, was the biggest money maker in the Arabian Gulf. Also included is "Lost Library of Alexandria" - about a library founded in Egypt by Alexander the Great - and "The Persian Carpet" that concerns a carpet designer in the old Persian empire (now Iran), a garden and the girl who created it.

Merlindt lived and worked in the Middle East for 13 years as a racehorse veterinarian employed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai. She found him to be an open-minded man of many interests and talents. He was also a poet and this interest rubbed off on Merlindt.
