Janet Miller grew up on a farm in Pemberton, B.C. Now living on the Sunshine Coast, she has worked with disabled adults for more than 20 years. Her first juvenile novel Cross My Heart (HodgePog 2002 $8.95) is set in the Pemberton Valley during the 1950s. As a child, Julie is terrified by her mother's failing health--until her mother undergoes one of the first open heart operations to be conducted in B.C.
