Frank Moher of Gabriola Island is one of Canada's foremost playwrights. A finalist for the 1986 Governor-General's Award for Odd Jobs, he has called upon his experiences as a journalist with Alberta Report to write Prairie Report, which illustrates that "the useful populist kind of conservatism that used to exist in Western Canada has given way to a crueler type of conservatism." His play The Third Ascent grapples with the American decision to create and drop the atom bomb. Sliding for Home is a play about baseball in Edmonton in the 1940s. He was born in Edmonton in 1955 and came to B.C. in 1986.
