Born in 1938 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Beverley Rosen Simons of West Vancouver was one of Canada's leading experimental writers for theatre in the 1970s, most notably with Crabdance (Talonbooks, 1972; 2002) and Preparing (Talonbooks, 1975). Another published work was Green Lawn Rest Home (Playwrights Co-op). A special issue of the Canadian Theatre Review (Winter, 1976) was devoted to her work.
