Gloria Snively's Exploring the Seashore has been through eleven printings since 1978. It's a comprehensive field guide to shorebirds and intertidal life which contains 285 drawings (mostly by Philip Croft), more than 100 photos and nine maps. Born in 1943, Snively is a professor emeritus of science, environmental, and marine education in the Faculty of Education, University of Victoria; a former classroom teacher of primary and junior secondary grades; and a founding member of the Northwest Association of Marine Educators.
