Mountaineer and scientist J. Norman Collie, born in Cheshire, England, and his fellow climber Hugh Stutfield, co-authored their accounts of expeditions made in 1897, 1898, 1900 and 1902 for Climbs & Explorations in the Canadian Rockies. Their book was republished more than 100 years later, edited by Gillean Daffern. Both Hugh E.M. Stutfield (1858-1929) and Collie (1859-1942) wrote other outdoor titles. With John Norman Collie and Hermann Wooley, Stutfield discovered the Columbia Icefields and made the first ascent of Mt. Athabasca.
