Tara Hungerford and Eric Hogan are a husband-and-wife team who created The Gumboot Kids, an award-winning CBC program for children aged 3 - 7 years old.
From the TV show, they spun off a series of four books in 2019 called the "Gumboot Kids Nature Mysteries." Each story involves the main characters, Scout and Daisy, working through a series of clues to solve a mystery. In each case, Scout and Daisy confirm their findings with a trip to the library to verify their evidence. Each book ends with two pages of field notes on the mystery subject and a nature craft inspired by the mystery for kids to try at home.
