Born in Ville Emard, Montreal in 1948, Woligroski moved to British Columbia in 1970. He received his Masters of Literature from Central Queenland University. After a variety of jobs in B.C. he settled in the Kootenays and became serious about organic gardening. In Nelson he self-published Gardeners in Paradise, And Other Stories (Deepwater Press, 2003).

W.P. Kinsella's review in Books in Canada called Gardeners in Paradise a "diversified and altogether winning collection." Ernest Hekkanen, Editor in Chief of the New Orphic Review said, "Woligroski's eye for detail, his gift for creating odd but memorable characters and his ability to 'tighten the noose' of plot makes Gardeners in Pradise a pleasure to read."
