Born as Wu Chewan in Hong Kong, Kileasa Wong met and married Maurice Wong in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada in 1974. The Wong family has operated a corner store in Victoria ever since then, raising four sons. Having taught at the Chinese Public School on Fisgard Street, she received a Master's in Education from UVic and became principal of the school. Also secretary of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, "Principal Wu" edits the CCBA's bi-monthly Victoria Chinatown Newsletter which she founded in 1993. Wong has used Robert Amos' drawings of Victoria's Chinatown on the cover of almost every issue, and she has incorporated his artwork for Inside Chinatown: Ancient Culture in a New World (Touchwood $44.95), a fully bilingual tribute to Canada's oldest Chinatown. 978-1-894898-91-1
