Aviva Dale Martin studied Creative Writing with Hugh MacLennan at McGill University, and later at the University of British Columbia. She taught children's literature at Vancouver Community College, raised three children and became a visual artist. In retirement now, Aviva returned to writing and contributed to an anthology - Journey through Uncertainty & other short stories (Ouen Press, 2017). In her story "Manuela," she describes return visits to a cherished summer retreat in a warm climate where there is a simplicity to daily routines. Visit after visit, and with the passing of time, her perceptions of this paradise are challenged and changed.
