Being a writer increasingly seems like a publicity game—or battle.
For instance, after some success in Australia, Victoria-born-and-raised Tara Moss, a former fashion model, is being hyped as the new glamour girl of popular fiction by HarperCollins. We’re not sure who the old one was. Of course there’s a website. Her first novel’s title is as skimpy as the clothes she hardly wears: Fetish. But we’re told she actually did research. In May, Moss returned to home turf, cruising through Bolen Books on her route from the catwalk to stardom. The publicity material says, “Let’s banish the dumb blonde model jokes for now.” 0-00-200519-0
