Recounting how he escaped from smalltown Alberta to become an international art dealer and foreign aid worker, Pavlik Stooshnoff devotes most of his memoir to poetry in Lost in Place—with only tantalizing references to his brushes with the likes of King Juan Carlos, Roman Polanski, Jimi Hendrix, John Paul Getty II (whose life he saved), Diana Rigg (who lost £100 to him in a bet) and Katherine Hepburn (as her cook and chauffeur).
