DANLOCK, Tyrone

Author Tags: Outdoors

Raised in Alberni and Vernon, Tyrone Danlock attended UBC and Simon Fraser University with the unrealized intention of becoming a wildlife biologist. He worked in prospecting and the edible mushroom business. In the 1980s and 1990s he developed his skills as a hardrock and burlwood carver, as well as a painter of wildlife and nature. His self-published collection of 27 real-life short stories, gathered over a 30-year span, is entitled In the Wilds of Western Canada (Trafford 2005) although the wilderness activities described occur mainly in British Columbia, as well as Yukon and western Alberta. "Come if you dare for a quiet walk in Western Canada's lively woods," he invites. Danlock includes advice on safe camping practices and discusses animal behaviour, ecology, politics, economics, society, philosophy, the human mind and the power of nature. ISBN 141203447-7 $37 Cdn.
