As a Vancouver lawyer, Thomas Woods edited Raise No Memorial (Orca Books, 1989), the only collection of fiction by Vancouver lawyer and Klanak Press publisher William McConnell, who also served as a legal advisor to Malcolm Lowry.

Upon his appointment on October 5, 2007 as a judge of the Provincial Court of British Columbia, sitting in Port Coquitlam, Thomas Woods ended his 17-year association with the law society publication the Advocate. From 1990 to 1995 he served as its assistant editor from 1996 to 2007 he held the position of editor.
