Born in Tanzania, Alberta-raised Anar Ali graduated from the MFA Creative Writing Program at UBC and published a debut collection of fiction, Baby Khaki's Wings (Penguin 2006), about the Ismaili community in both Canada and West Africa. Her work has appeared in The New York Times and The National Post. She has been nominated for the Journey Prize, the National Magazine Awards and the Pushcart Prize.
