Sean Cranbury took over as executive director of the West Coast Book Prizes from Bryan Pike in 2019. Bryan Pike and Liesl Jauk had taken over as paid directors from BC BookWorld [Beverly Cramp, David Lester, Alan Twigg, unpaid]. BC BookWorld had taken over management in 1993. Prior to 1993, management had been handled by a series committees comprised of volunteers.

In the 20th century, 60% of the B.C. Book Prizes open to all publishers* went to B.C.-published books.

As of 2018, in the 21st century, 44% of the B.C. Book Prizes open to all publishers* went to B.C.-published books.
