Her first novel Ladies Night (1988) is a feminist murder mystery that follows Meg Lacy, 'a happily divorced mother of two with a black belt in Aikido', as she investigates a seedy Vancouver nightclub. Vancouver-born, Bowers now lives on the Gulf Islands and has written a second Meg Lacey novel, No Forwarding Address (Douglas & McIntyre, 1991).
