Born in Ste. Lambert, Quebec in 1913, John Wilson Duffie died in February. A collection of his 'Overset' columns from Monday magazine, Unimportance of Being Earnest, available from Milestone Publications, was a runner-up for the Leacock Medal for Humouir in 1983. "He was the most popular columnist in the whole paper," recalls Monday founder Bill Barringer, "and he was a very conscientious writer."
