Heather Harris is a Cree-Métis who teaches in the First Nations Studies program at the University of Northern British Columbia, having submitted a Ph.D. thesis to the University of Alberta on Indigenous knowledge, focusing on correlations between oral histories and archaeological and paleo-environmental data. Also a poet, jeweller, clothing designer and traditional dancer, she has gathered her poetry for Rainbow Dancer (1999). Harris participates in Rainbow Dancing with her daughters and is working on a book of coyote stories.  She has lived in northern B.C., in the Kispiox and Prince George region, for decades.
