Born in Kelowna in 1941, retired Registered Nurse Meg Hickling, CM, has been instilling a knowledge of sexual health in children and adults for decades. Her video series is Sex Spelled Out for Parents. Hickling's ability to convey difficult and controversial material with sensitivity and warmth distinguishes her as a teacher. Her vision and influence have earned her The Canadian Home and School Federation's Health Award, the YMCA Woman of Distinction Award for Health Education, The RNABC Award of Excellence, The Distinguished Service to Families Award, the Order of British Columbia and the Order of Canada.

In 2016, Saleema Noon teamed up with veteran B.C. sex-ed pioneer Meg Hickling, a registered nurse and educator, for Talk Sex Today: What Kids Need to Know and How Adults Can Teach Them (Wood Lake $24.95). A step-mom to two teenaged girls who has created the iGirl and iGuy Empowerment Workshops for nine-12-year-olds, Saleema Noon has also taught assertiveness training, internet safety, healthy relationships, body image and self-esteem. With a UBC Master of Arts degree in sexual health education earned in 1997, Noon has appeared as a regular guest on Global News, CKNW Radio, Shaw TV, CityTV Breakfast Television, CTV Morning Live, The Kid Carson Show on KiSS Radio, and also appeared in CBC's Passionate Eye documentary Secrets and CBC Doc Zone documentary Sext Up Kids. Noon has also been featured in Canadian Living, Chatelaine and Today's Parent magazines along with several other national publications, and is the recipient of the Options For Sexual Health's Educator of the Year Award.
