Family physician Art Hister has been a 'media doctor' since 1991. He graduated from McGill University in 1970 and became the first fulltime doctor at Kitsilano's Pine Free Clinic. He has been a newspaper columnist and host of the television program Doctor, Doctor, as well as the health columnist for BCTV weekend morning news and the host of his national radio call-in program House Calls with Dr. Art Hister, heard weekly on the Corus Radio Network across Western Canada. Hister is the winner of numerous awards, including the Holobon Award from the Canadian Public Health Association as Canada's top public health educator. He has also been a daily health commentator for The World Today on CKNW in Vancouver, the in-house doctor for Up All Night on BBC 5 in the UK, and a health columnist for Global TV in British Columbia. He is married to bookseller Phyllis Simon, founder and co-owner of Vancouver Kidsbooks.
