Born in Vancouver in 1954, Lesley Krueger studied political science at UBC before working as a journalist in Vancouver and Toronto. She was an education columnist for the Globe & Mail and a producer for CBC Radio's As It Happens. Her first collection of fiction, Hard Travel, Poor Player appeared in 1989. Lesley Krueger's first novel Drink the Sky (Key Porter 1999) follows a Canadian couple to Rio de Janeiro. Holly Austen finds herself as a painter while Todd Austen pursues a vanished people through the Amazon.
