Born Vancouver, B.C. in 1947 Scott Lawrance graduated from West Vancouver Secondary School in 1964. He earned a BA in English Literature from UBC in 1969 where he studied with Warren Tallman and Peter Quartermain, among others. With George Heyman, Lawrance edited the poetry magazine Circular Causation. He contributed to the development of the pioneering B.C. history journal, Raincoast Chronicles, with Howard White, Peter Trower and others. While living on Saltspring Island in the 1980s, Lawrance edited the poetry magazine Raven, with George Herman and Arden Henley. He is a current contributor to the online journal, The GTEC Reader. Aside from a short sojourn in Merritt, BC, Lawrance has spent his entire life on, or near the shores of the Salish Sea, significantly in Vancouver, Robert’s Creek, Saltspring island, Cortes Island, and Oak Bay. He currently lives on Vancouver Island. Other employment includes work as a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
