Nancy Morrison fulfilled many roles in her career as a lawyer, arbitrator, judge, political activist and feminist. Now, she adds author to that list with the publication of her memoir, Benched: Passion for Law Reform (Durvile/UpRoute $35). After fifty years in the law profession, twenty-four spent as a judge, Morrison draws on her experience for many humorous stories as well as darker episodes. Her stories are set against the social and political issues of the day and she doesn't flinch when it comes to speaking out for law reform. Morrison practiced law and adjudicated in Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. She served nine years on the British Columbia Provincial Criminal Court and later, fifteen years on the Supreme Court of British Columbia. For TV buffs, Morrison shared twenty-four years with actor Bruno Gerussi of The Beachcombers fame. Raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, she lives in Vancouver.
