Peter Norman's first novel, Emberton (Douglas & McIntyre 2014), takes its title from a fictional dictionary publisher, Emberton Publishing, and manages to combine lexicography and etymology--along with an illiterate protagonist named Lance Blunt and a malevolent entity that is bent on draining the world of human language. It adds up to a comic, literary, Gothic romp. (Douglas & McIntyre 2014) $19.95 978-1-55365-554-1
