Based on his research in the Tlingit village of Klukwan in 1931 and 1932, Kalervo Oberg (1901-1973) published his Ph.D dissertation, with an added bibliography, more than 40 years later as The Social Economy of the Tlingit Indians (Vancouver: J.J. Douglas, University of Washington Press, 1973) with a foreward by Wilson Duff. Oberg also published a study of Sointula in 1928 and several works related to anthropology in South America during the 1950s and 1960s.
