Formerly a literary arts officer at the Canada Council, Paul Seesequasis moved to the Okanagan to become the publisher at Theytus Books in 2013. Also a journalist, he was the founding editor of Aboriginal Voices magazine and recipient of a MacLean-Hunter journalism award. Set in the early 17th century, his first novella, Tobacco Wars (Quattro, 2010), is a fanciful depiction of both the English playwright Ben Jonson and the "Indian princess" Pocahontas during the era when tobacco from the New World was introduced to the Old World of England.
