Avi Silberstein's debut novel Human Solutions (Skyhorse 2014) is set in Santiago, Chile, during the 1980s when the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet has ousted the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende. A Human Solutions team consisting of a detective, a psychologist, and an actor are drawn into a case that entails the investigation of a cult run by an ex-Nazi with ties to torture and the Pinochet regime.

Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Avi Silberstein has lived in Grand Forks, British Colombia since 2000. As an outreach librarian with the Greater Victoria Public Library, he was featured in the Globe and Mail and FOCUSonline about his involvement in the library's book mobile service and Library While You Wait program, initiatives to bring libraries to the people. He also delivers books via his bike mobile.
